How Can The Greener Side Help Your Business?
The Greener Side (TGS) is Effective Consumable Solutions’ IT asset disposition (ITAD) service provider and electronic waste (WEEE) recycler.
Our service provides IT asset disposal services and electronics recycling to dealerships, businesses, enterprises and data centres via established fully licensed operations in the United Kingdom.
TGS has access to a sizeable pool of investment capital and is continually investing in leading industry solutions. We have developed the ATOM Portal; a specialised inventory software to securely track and report on client assets.
Ultimately, we play an integral role in the circular economy by making resources available for future use and ensuring that zero products or materials are sent to landfill.
Electronics Recycling (WEEE) & Material Pathways
We work with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Contract Equipment Manufacturers (CEMs) for prototype destruction services, take-back programs, reverse logistics, parts harvesting and manufacturing scrap recycling.
TGS provides services for all types of retired electronic equipment in every business sector enabling compliance with their responsibilities under relevant Environmental Regulations and the WEEE Directive.
Our in-house engineering team has developed and implemented advanced recycling technology, processes and systems; enabling us to output clean commodity streams for use in next generation products.
Once WEEE waste has been transported to our UK recycling facility, remanufacturing is always the first priority; in order to extend the life-cycle of as many cartridges and parts as possible and to prevent the unnecessary use of raw materials needed to produce brand new products.
Prior to remanufacturing, each cartridge completes a number of tests and quality control measures to ensure that it is eligible to be remanufactured in-line with OEM standards. Each cartridge is also stripped, cleaned and has any necessary components replaced and refilled with premium Japanese toner before undergoing a number of other tests and quality control measures to ensure that our remanufactured solutions are of the highest standard.
Plastics are a finite and valuable resource, so the best outcome after their initial use is firstly reuse, then to be recycled into a new product.
Once the plastic is collected and delivered to our recycling centre, it is typically separated into different polymer types, which are then separately shredded (and impurities like paper are removed), then they will be melted back into polymer pellets, which are used to make denser plastics – such as chairs and tables or used in asphalt.
We reclaim precious metals from waste streams, typically as a by-product of complex remanufacturing processes. We also recover precious metals from production scrap, off-spec parts and components, prototypes, and obsolete inventories.
ECS’s robust recycling, and remanufacturing ecosystem represents a vital component of our industry’s landscape; driving innovation, supporting the economy, and promoting a greener future. Alongside our Partners, we are striving to achieve a better, more circular economy for future generations.
But our sustainability efforts don’t stop there – we also actively participate in recycling and remanufacturing initiatives, collecting used or discarded products and either refurbishing them for resale or breaking them down to reclaim valuable materials.
Quality Standards and Responsible Recycling |
|
All ECS facilities operate to best practices across several disciplines. We work closely with recognised industry associations to ensure all business operations adhere to and exceed established recognised industry standards.
Our recycling centres have been audited by a third-party and have received ISO certifications. In addition to this, and our many other accreditations, each recycling centre follows established corporate environmental and safety standards that further protect Partners and employees from the hazards associated with handling used IT equipment and electronics.
Among these standards, associations and accreditations are:
Recycling Plastic and The Waste Hierarchy
The Waste Framework Directive sets out that waste should be dealt with in accordance with the waste hierarchy, with legislation aiming to move waste management up the hierarchy. The recycling of plastics fits into the waste hierarchy as an efficient and sustainable use of material resources.
By acting in accordance with the Waste Framework Directive and recycling your WEEE waste you will:
- Provide a sustainable source of raw materials to the industry
- Greatly reduce the environmental impact of plastic-rich products
- Minimise the amount of plastic entering UK landfill sites
- Consume less energy than producing new virgin polymers
- Avoid the consumption of the Earths oil stocks
- Embed the right values and behaviours to reduce human impact
E-Waste and IT Asset Disposal for Businesses
With the information technology explosion, businesses have adopted a multitude of electronic devices to streamline and automate business processes. When these products have outlived their useful life, they should be recycled in an environmentally responsible manner, compliant with all legal regulations for recycling e-waste.
ECS works with leading UK companies in providing compliant IT disposition and e-recycling of end-of-life electronics. Our certified e-waste recycling centres reinforce a closed-loop approach to responsible recycling of e-waste. We provide transparency in tracking, recycling and how hazardous materials are disposed.
ECS has the expertise and infrastructure necessary to guarantee the following:
- Your IT assets and e-waste are processed in an environmentally responsible manner
- Your reputation is protected
- Your compliance risks are eliminated
- When recycling equipment with digital data, your data is destroyed
